Nina Mehlhaf '98 and Dale Johannes get ready to host Changing Lives Together.
Portland, OR. Changing Lives Together was the theme of the latest Jesuit High School fundraising initiative. The purpose is to raise funds for financial aid and to upgrade a gym at the school which is used for weekly Mass; the project is called the Sacred Space – Smith Gym refresh project. School officials say they raised an estimated $900,000. Jesuit alumna and KGW News at Sunrise Anchor Nina Mehlhaf ’98 co-hosted the May 8th event with Dale Johannes from Artisan Auctions.
The Jesuit Chamber Choir inspires supporters with a rendition of “Benediction” during the digital campaign and live virtual celebration.
The broadcast included messages from Jesuit President Tom Arndorfer as well as the co-chairs Megan Carle (left) and Mary Murphy who is the parent of six Jesuit graduates and a member of the Jesuit Board of Trustees.
Funds raised will add audio/visual enhancements to the Smith Gym (as seen in the artist’s rendering above.)

Mission Statement: Jesuit High School is a Catholic, college-preparatory school in the Jesuit tradition. It serves students of all religious faiths.
Jesuit education fosters the harmonious development of the adolescent’s gifts: spiritual, religious, intellectual, physical, emotional, and aesthetic. Jesuit High School hopes to accomplish this development by demonstrating a personal concern for individuals, a special concern for the poor, an articulate wisdom, enthusiasm, and a sense of community. In so doing, the school hopes to graduate leaders who are committed to serve God and their fellow men and women. Our hope is that our students develop a profound sense of justice founded in love, i.e., leaders who are “men and women for others.”
